How to take care of your battery
- The batteries of the blackberry are L-ion type
- The L-ion batteries need to be fully charged to 100% on first use (there is no such thing as 120% or 130%)
- Charge your blackberry as often as you can. 20 minutes in the office, 10 minutes in the car etc. Overnight charging is always good
- There is no such thing as over charging a blackberry battery. Batteries have a system that stops receiving charge when topped
- Blackberry batteries do not need the old “fully discharge – fully charge” routine for the initial three charges as was recommended on older battery technologies.
- The first few days you have your blackberry with you it’s likely you will play more with it and hence deplete the battery faster. Keep your charger handy.
- Don’t drain your battery every day to 10-20% of its charge. You can actually expect battery problems by draining the battery so often.
How to determine if your battery needs to be disposed or replaced
- Bloated shape
- Diminished performance
- It gets hot
- It has 2 or 3 years of everyday use
How to dispose correctly the batteries
- At the shopping mall near photo stores you see a special bin for batteries and electronic products
