How to take care of your battery

  • The batteries of the blackberry are L-ion type
  • The L-ion batteries need to be fully charged to 100% on first use (there is no such thing as 120% or 130%)
  • Charge your blackberry as often as you can. 20 minutes in the office, 10 minutes in the car etc. Overnight charging is always good
  • There is no such thing as over charging a blackberry battery. Batteries have a system that stops receiving charge when topped
  • Blackberry batteries do not need the old “fully discharge – fully charge” routine for the initial three charges as was recommended on older battery technologies.
  • The first few days you have your blackberry with you it’s likely you will play more with it and hence deplete the battery faster. Keep your charger handy.
  • Don’t drain your battery every day to 10-20% of its charge. You can actually expect battery problems by draining the battery so often.

How to determine if your battery needs to be disposed or replaced

  • Bloated shape
  • Diminished performance
  • It gets hot
  • It has 2 or 3 years of everyday use

How to dispose correctly the batteries

  • At the shopping mall near photo stores you see a special bin for batteries and electronic products
